Started knitting my first sock. I am loving watching the colors in the self-striping Felici sport weight yarn from knitpicks.com and find myself having to not just finish a round, but finish a color.
When starting this project I did something I have never officially done, knit swatches to get my gauge. I decided I hate knitting swatches. I understand their significance, as Brenda Dayne said in her Pod Cast Cast-On: “If gauge were a breath it would be the pause before the deep inhale.”, but that does not make them any more a pain to sit and do.
I am watching the leg part of the sock come together, getting more and more nervous as I approach the heel. And having been lazy with my gauge, there is an element of surprise with how these socks will fit. Here is the construction so far:
